The Family Business of the Year Awards 2021, organised by Family Business United are drawing to their conclusion and Gorvins are delighted to be sponsoring the North and Northern Ireland category.

Recognising the contribution of family firms across the UK, these prestigious awards celebrate the very best of British, drawing entries from family firms the length and breadth of the country with awards being given by sector, region and for overall national recognition.

As Paul Andrews, Founder and CEO of FBU explains, “Having worked within the family business sector for over twenty years, we created these awards to recognise the contribution that family firms make to the national economy and to celebrate the jobs provided, income generated and wealth created by the sector.  There are over 6 million family firms in the UK and they continue to make a difference each and every day.  The past year has not been an easy one but family firms have stepped up, supported the communities in which they operate and found new ways of working.  They have shown their resilience and determination to survive and been innovative in their ways of working.  Our finalists all have a story to tell and deserve their moment to shine.  Family firms are the engine room of the UK economy and we are proud to champion them, many  of whom have been around for generations.  These awards will be even more special this year as they celebrate the endeavours and achievements of businesses that have fought long and hard over the past year, endeavours that deserve to be recognised.”

“As lockdown restrictions are eased, family firms will undoubtedly have an integral role to play in the recovery of the nation too.  We look forward to the awards evening on June 24 when the winner will be announced in a premiere on You Tube, all of whom are great ambassadors for the family business sector,” concludes Paul.

As Christian Mancier, Partner and Head of Family Business at Gorvins adds, “As a firm we have a specialist family business team that work with many family firms across the North and North West and it is a pleasure to sponsor the award for the region.  Every time I’m involved with judging awards such as these it never ceases to amaze me how many fantastic family businesses are out there and how each family business has a unique and fascinating back story in many cases going back several generations and it is this back story that forms the DNA of those firms today.”

“As a result we are immensely proud to be involved with Family Business United’s Family Business of the Year and we look forward to announcing the winners live on the night and crowning the North and Northern Ireland Family Business of the Year 2021,” concludes Christian.
