As a leading business and employer in Greater Manchester, Gorvins Solicitors is committed to active and progressive corporate responsibility.

Gorvins has always been very much part of the fabric of the Stockport and wider Greater Manchester and Cheshire communities in which we operate. Our commitment goes way beyond geographic boundaries and includes contributions to market sectors and professional communities, operating in the region.

Our Charity Work

Each year Gorvins selects two charities for whom we raise funds through a range of activities. Selecting the right charities to partner with is very much part of our culture at Gorvins and we are proud that each and every member of staff gets behind the cause to raise funds for such worthwhile causes.

Our 2018 charities are MIND and The Seashell Trust.

MIND; The Mental Health Charity

Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem. But hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling. MIND provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Mind provides help and support directly to those who need it most. Their network of around 135 local Minds offer specialised support and care based on the needs of the communities they support.

The Seashell Trust

Seashell provides education and 52-week residential care for 135 children and young people aged 2 to 25 with profound learning disabilities and sensory impairments. Their children and young people have some of the most complex needs and disabilities including deafness, blindness and autism, combined with physical disabilities and profound learning difficulties. All have some brain damage and little or no ability to communicate.

They also offer Short Break (respite) provision for young people whose families are often at the point of breakdown.

In addition, their award-winning Children’s Able and Disabled Sports (CADS) Programme provides inclusive sporting opportunities for over 500 youngsters.

They help individuals develop the ability to communicate and make independent choices about basic everyday needs, sometimes for the first time in their lives.  As well as empowering children and young people, they work with families to build the confidence needed to bring up a severely disabled child.
