Gorvins Solicitors has advised nationwide printer and photocopier supplier, Leemic on its acquisition by DMC Canotec, a provider of managed print services and document management systems.

Stockport-based, Leemic serves a significant number of customers across the north. Now, as part of DMC Group it will help strengthen DMC’s reach across the region adding to its existing operations in Gateshead, Manchester and York. The acquisition also provides DMC with the opportunity to expand into Scotland where Leemic has a growing sales and service operation.

Acting on behalf of Leemic, the corporate & commercial team at Gorvins, led by partner Christian Mancier, supported by associate, Gemma Lingard and paralegal Chloe Murphy helped advise Leemic’s key stakeholders throughout the acquisition process. Corporate Finance and tax advice was provided by Andy Baggott and Paul Draper from Clarke Nicklin Accountants. DMC was advised by Jon Snade, a partner at Browne Jacobson LLP in London and assisted by associate solicitor Harry Pearson.

Mancier said: “We’ve been working with Leemic for 15 years, and it has been a pleasure to advise them on the next stage of their growth journey. We look forward to watching the business thrive as part of the DMC Group as it looks to bolster its presence across the north and Scotland.”

Spokesperson, Philip McDowell – Chairman, Leemic said: “Gorvins provided us with excellent advice and guidance on our journey to becoming part of the DMC network. We were very grateful for the work and effort and commitment to getting the deal over the line by the target date. At the end the Gorvins team worked long into the night and delivered a great result to us.

Regional managing director, DMC, Warren Colby commented: “Leemic is an excellent business which we know well having worked together previously with great success. When the opportunity to acquire Leemic arose, we had no hesitation in adding their expertise to the group.”

DMC CEO, Simon Davey, said “We want to expand our presence in the north with high quality acquisitions and Leemic absolutely meets these criteria, with the same customer-centric values and excellent OEM relationships.”

This acquisition adds a further £3.5m of revenue to the Horizon Capital-backed DMC Group, taking total revenues close to £70m.

Gorvins has supported Leemic with legal advice for the last 15 years  on a range of matters from the original purchase of the Leemic business through to share option schemes for key employees and the actual sale to DMC group.
