Christian Mancier, Corporate and Commercial Partner at Gorvins Solicitors, has been re-elected as Chair of the Stockport Economic Alliance, a partnership of senior business leaders from some of Stockport’s major employers.
Established since 1999, Stockport Economic Alliance brings together businesses and organisations who are all committed to making Stockport the strongest business location it can possibly be.
Members include Adidas UK, CDL, Clarke Nicklin, John Lewis, MAN Diesel & Turbo UK Ltd, MusicMagpie, Orbit Developments, Robinsons Brewery, Stockport College, Stockport Council and Thales
Christian is well-known as an influential figurehead and, since joining Gorvins in 2001 has made a significant impact on the business community in Stockport and across Greater Manchester
Since first becoming Chair in December 2015, Christian has focused on improving the links between business and education, addressing the issue of the ‘skills gap’ and encouraging businesses to provide development opportunities for young people in Stockport. Christian is proud to have been one of the co-founders of Gander Careers; an initiative bringing education and business together locally, which helps students as they seek to make informed career choices. To date Gander has helped more than 2,000 students meet with over 150 businesses in Stockport.
Supporting enterprise and recognising the achievements of Stockport businesses is also important to Christian, and he has been pleased to judge Stockport Business Awards since 2012, and the Pioneer 10 Business Competition held by the Stockport Business and Innovation Centre.
Upon his re-election, Christian said: “It is a real honour to be re-elected for a second term, , by such an influential group of business leaders . I am excited about continuing to work with Stockport Economic Alliance members over the next 2 yearsas we continue to do all we can to all we can to addressing skills within Stockport whilst also developing a corporate social responsibility initiative that will actively encourage businesses in Stockport to engage with local grass route charities and volunteer groups.”
