Nurturing homegrown talent at Gorvins Solicitors

We’re proud to be a Stockport-based business, rooted in the community and driven by a desire to support Stopfordians get the best legal outcomes for their needs. For us, championing homegrown talent isn’t just good practice, it’s a strategic decision that strengthens our firm and benefits the clients we serve.

Our commitment to nurturing young talent

Because of our relationship with local educational institutions like Aquinas College, we provide jobs and work experience for many local young people starting out on promising careers right here in Stockport.

Over the past year, we’ve welcomed many new starters.

  • Olivia Eades joined us as a Paralegal in August 2024. Olivia studied at Aquinas College before heading to university. Olivia was followed by Rhea Heaney who joined us in May 2025. Rhea recently graduated from Salford University with a 1st class honours in degree in Law.
  • Earlier this year, we brought on Sophie Lennon as an Apprentice Solicitor, providing an alternative pathway into law that’s more hands-on and practical than the usual route.
  • In March 2025, Finn English-Hart joined as a Marketing Assistant, straight from his A-levels at Aquinas College. Another local young man with strong ties to the local area.
  • Melissa Moore, who joined us as a Paralegal in January 2024, has already progressed to become a CILEX Advanced Paralegal as of May 2025.

We also host work experience placements for local young people with seven visiting already this year alone. We have two more placements already lined up for the coming months and another three for next year.

Why homegrown talent matters

Recruiting from the local community brings real benefits. Local employees often have a deeper understanding of the community’s needs and culture, which in turn can strengthen client relationships. Local hires tend to stay longer in roles and show higher levels of engagement and commitment. This loyalty is a two-way street: when people feel supported by their employer, they’re more likely to stay and contribute to long-term success.

For Gorvins, this connection to Stockport is a core part of who we are. By investing in local young people, we’re helping create a workforce that’s truly representative of the area we’re proud to call home. We know that when our employees feel connected to the community, they’re better placed to serve its legal needs.

Connecting with Future Stockport

Going beyond recruitment, some of our young lawyers take an active role in Future Stockport, which is a networking group that empowers young professionals in the region. Our young professionals build networks in these communities where they’re able to offer and receive support from their peers. We want our younger colleagues and the next generation of Stockport leaders to have the confidence and connections to succeed.

The bottom line

We’re always on the lookout for driven, enthusiastic people who want to be part of Stockport’s story. If you’re ready to join us, or if you’d like to learn more about our work, contact Gorvins Solicitors today to find out what opportunities lie in wait for you.
