Ever fancied being a Dragon in the Den or a place on the Britain’s Got Talent panel? Well here’s your chance…The Stockport Business Challenge Fund was launched in March. This exciting new scheme invited local businesses and voluntary organisations to bid for a share of up to £330,000.
The fund – created by Stockport Council – is overseen by Stockport Economic Alliance which is a public/private partnership comprising the Council and major local employers including MAN Diesel and Turbo, Adidas, BT, and Jacobs Engineering. The aim is to help local businesses, groups of businesses and voluntary organisations with funding for projects which will benefit Stockport’s long-term economic growth.
34 applications were received and 14 interesting and varied projects have been shortlisted. These will be presented to a panel of five Dragons in front of an audience of local businesses. The Dragons will then have the chance to ask questions (and challenge) the bidders before the audience votes on how the money should be allocated…and this is where you, the businesses of Stockport, come in.
All businesses from across Stockport regardless of their size or nature are invited to
come along to the free voting event on Tuesday 26th June, from 4-8 pm at the Town Hall.
Every business represented will have the opportunity to vote on which schemes the money is allocated to (one vote per business in attendance) so we need as many local businesses to participate as possible. It promises to be an interesting and exciting event with each business voting electronically for their preferred proposals (Dragon’s Den meets Britain’s Got Talent!) as well as a great opportunity for Stockport’s business community to come together and network.
