Gorvins advises Dunsters Farm on strategic acquisition of Ralph Livesey

Gorvins Solicitors has advised long-standing client Dunsters Farm, the Bury-based third-generation family business, on its recent acquisition of Ralph Livesey, a respected food distribution company based in Leyland.

The deal marks a significant milestone for Dunsters Farm as it continues its strategic growth journey across the North of England, expanding its reach and strengthening its service offering to schools, care homes, hospitality and leisure venues, and multi-site caterers.

Founded in 1963, Dunsters Farm has grown to become a major player in the foodservice industry, with a strong reputation for innovation and customer service. The acquisition of Ralph Livesey adds further scale, expertise, and geographic reach, as well as a strong cultural fit between the two family-run businesses.

Gorvins’ Corporate & Commercial team acted for Dunsters Farm on the transaction, led by Christian Mancier (Partner), with support from Gemma Lingard (Senior Associate) and Joe Kitchin (Trainee Solicitor). Amanda Porter (Partner – Commercial Property) advised on the property aspects of the deal.

Tom Mathew, Commercial Director at Dunsters Farm, commented:

“The Gorvins team were fantastic from start to finish. They were thorough, responsive and practical in their advice and understood the pace we needed to work at. They went above and beyond, including out of hours, to keep everything on track.

What really stood out was their ability to balance the legal detail with commercial reality. They weren’t afraid to challenge aspects of the deal where they saw a better way forward and this helped us reduce risk while staying focused on our strategic goals.”

This latest transaction continues Gorvins’ track record in advising owner-managed and family businesses on acquisitions, growth strategies and long-term succession planning.
