Last week Gorvins’ Managing Partner and Head of Commercial Property Martin Hoare attended, MIPIM 2018, the world’s leading property market exhibition, in Cannes, to learn the latest developments and trends in the premium real estate market and network with influencers in the industry.

As co-founder of Greater Manchester Property Group alongside Knight Frank, BDO Accountants and Santander, Martin’s MIPIM 2018 focus was on North West clients, contacts and developments.

Martin Hoare said ‘Notwithstanding the adverse coverage in some parts of the press, MIPIM is an invaluable fixture in the real estate calendar and an opportunity to showcase and sell the best the industry has to offer’

During the exhibition Martin attended a diverse range of talks, panels and presentations including Salford’s Smart New Neighbourhood, Paddington Village 18 months, Northern Tech Powerhouse: What makes Manchester a Driving Force?, Natural Capital: A green Revolution and Working 9 to 5 in 2035 to name a few.

A key highlight included a talk from Tom Fenton, Project Director for Far East Consortium International and Peter Swift, Managing Director for Planit-IE. A River runs through it: The Northern Gateway, discussed the huge opportunities available for Salford and Manchester encompassing the creation of neighbourhoods, a transport hub and capitalising on the heritage of both cities. This vision also includes a commitment to deliver family and affordable homes that are accessible for all.

Another stand out session was the Vision Bolton: Premiership development A level playing field? panel moderated by TV presenter George Clarke. The session brought together Directors from Local North West Councils and Andrew Flintoff, Director at Logik Developments and Adam Cunnington, Chief Executive of Public Sector plc. The panel considered what the regional town centres in Greater Manchester have to offer, and how they can continue to regenerate these town centres. The session started with an announcement from Stephen Young, Director of Place at Bolton Council, that Muse Developments would be bringing forward the fantastic Church Wharf regeneration scheme.
