In 2016, Gorvins raised over £14,000 for charity in what was a record breaking year for the firm.
The total was achieved through a mixture of local and in-house events throughout 2016 to raise money for Stockport-based St Ann’s Hospice and national charity Cancer Research UK.
Paul Longmire, Gorvins Solicitors Head of Marketing and Chair of the Firm’s Charities Committee said “this is a phenomenal achievement and we are incredibly proud to have raised such an amount for 2 incredibly worthwhile charities.
Without the dedication and enthusiasm of our staff we would not have been able to raise such a figure. I would just like to thank everyone for their support over the past 12 months.”
As part of the Firm’s fundraising efforts, Head of Employment David Walton successfully walked all 214 Wainwright fells, a collection of hills and peaks in the Lake District, identified by famed fell walker and author Alfred Wainwright.
According to the register maintained by the Long Distance Walkers Association, just over 750 people have achieved this feat and in doing so, David managed to raise over £8,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Commenting on his achievement, David said “this challenge enabled me to combine my passion for the Lake District with an opportunity to contribute to the incredible work of Cancer Research UK”.
“The firm sadly lost one of its partners and stand-out personalities to cancer last year, Steven Moyle. Completion of this task and the sum raised are really in honour of Steven. The whole firm, its staff and its clients embraced the challenge and supported the charitable cause in his memory”.
Moving into 2017 the Firm will continue their fundraising efforts for their newly selected charities Bowel Cancer UK and Stockport based The Together Trust.
