Guy is a Partner in the Commercial Litigation and Dispute
Resolution Department. He also heads up the firm's work in Property
Litigation.
Guy has a great deal of experience in advising all types of
client, from owner managed businesses right through to multi
nationals and plc's.
Guy's approach is to provide sound and constructive legal advice
combined with a practical and commercial approach to seek to ensure
that the client's objectives are met at the earliest possible
stage. He believes in taking a "hands on" approach and as
such Guy has considerable experience in resolving matters without
litigation by using forms of alternative dispute resolution, such
as mediation.
Guy's recent work includes:
- Successfully pursuing a claim for forfeiture in relation to a
residential property under a long lease.
- Successfully pursuing a claim for forfeiture of an apartment
against a residential tenant in an apartment block under a long
lease for non-payment of service charge.
- Successfully acting for a Claimant pursuing an action for
breach of a Supply Agreement - recovering substantial damages and
costs.
- Overseeing a client's substantial portfolio of residential
properties and dealing with the following:-
(i) Claims for possession
(ii) Defending claims by tenant in relation to alleged statutory
nuisances
(iii) Defending a claim by the local authority for compulsory
purchase
(iv) Making a successful application on behalf of client for local
authority grants for development.
- Pursuing a claim for possession of a commercial property by
forfeiting the lease.
- Recovering goods and damages through a negotiated settlement in
connection with a claim for breach of copyright and design
rights.
- Negotiating multiple undertakings and payment of costs in
connection with third party uses of a client's trademark.
- Obtaining and serving an emergency injunction in just less than
24 hours for a well known car dealer when travellers set up camp on
their premises.
- Successfully defending a substantial claim against multiple
Defendants for damages and a claim for defamation, passing off,
breach of post termination employment covenants and breach of
Director's duties, including fiduciary duties.
- Successfully concluding a dispute on behalf of multiple parties
in relation to a claim for breach of contract, injunctive relief
and damages in relation to post termination employment
covenants.
