Christine Thornley

Christine is a solicitor and member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She advises on:

  • Tax planning and the preparation of Wills
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney - protecting individuals by ensuring that they and their finances will be looked after by an appointed individual should they be unable to look after themselves.
  • Applications to the Court of Protection so that a Deputy can be appointed on a client's behalf so that they can then manage the affairs of a loved one who has lost their mental capacity.
  • Administration of Estates - this can range from simple estates to more complex situations, including estates with foreign assets, estates where there are assets on trust and estates where relatives/beneficiaries are unknown and need to be traced.
  • Care fee planning (including whether or not you or the PCT should pay for care), plus recovering fees which were incorrectly paid. Christine recently won a case and reclaimed over £80,000 for an estate where a deceased had incorrectly paid for her own care.
  • Incorporation of new and existing charities.
  • General advice for charities on matters of charity law.
